Cheshire East Council runs its local crisis help as the Crisis and Resilience Fund (CRF). It is a grant — not a loan: help with essentials, nothing to repay. This is a summary; Cheshire East’s own page (linked below) is the authority and the current position.

What Cheshire East’s scheme covers

Covers: Crisis payments of £200 a household; oil-heating support of £300; household essentials (white goods and beds); help with housing costs; community resilience services; and exceptional-cost support
Status: Key elements open from April 2026, with more rolling out through the year (confirmed 10 September 2026)
Funding period: April 2026 to March 2029

Income and savings limits apply (for a single adult, income up to £24,454.04; savings up to £3,000, or £6,000 at pension age)

The Household Support Fund, in plain terms

Across England the Household Support Fund has largely been renamed the Crisis and Resilience Fund and now runs to 31 March 2029. It is money central government gives to upper-tier councils to help households with essentials — food, energy, and sometimes white goods. A payment does not affect your benefits. Other help you may qualify for

White-goods grants — a broken fridge, cooker or washing machine.
Budgeting Advance or Budgeting Loan — interest-free from the DWP.
Credit union loans — the cheapest borrowing, capped at 3% a month.
DWP phone numbers — which line to call, and for what.
