What Coventry’s local crisis scheme covers, how to apply, and whether it was open when we checked.

Coventry City Council runs its local crisis help as the Crisis and Resilience Fund. It is a grant — not a loan: help with essentials, nothing to repay. This is a summary; Coventry’s own page (linked below) is the authority and the current position.

What Coventry’s scheme covers

Covers: Crisis Payment (food parcels, energy and water bills, household items, clothing and bedding, essential travel); Housing Payment (rent, removals, storage)
Status: phased — clothing and bedding reopened 21 July, energy bills 3 August; categories may be suspended at short notice (confirmed 15 September 2026)
Funding period: Runs until 31 March 2029
Who qualifies: Must be a Coventry resident, aged 16 or over and living independently, and able to show financial hardship
How often: One claim of clothing/bedding support per grant period; fuel support cannot be reclaimed until 1 October if already received in Spring/Summer
How to apply: Complete the relevant online application form
You will need: Applicants may be asked to provide supporting documents to help assess the application
Government allocation: £6,583,139 for 2026-27

Previous recipients of clothing or fuel support are ineligible again until stated dates. If you had Fuel Support in the spring or summer, you cannot reapply until 1 October, when the Autumn/Winter scheme opens
