Erewash Borough Council runs its local crisis help as the Crisis and Resilience Fund (CRF). It is a grant — not a loan: help with essentials, nothing to repay. This is a summary; Erewash’s own page (linked below) is the authority and the current position.

Who qualifies: Must get Housing Benefit or Universal Credit that includes a housing element, e.g. for temporary help with housing costs, benefit cap/bedroom tax impact, or a difficult personal event
How often: Reapplication after an initial award only considered if special circumstances shown
How to apply: Apply via online forms, some of which require a MyRevenues account
Decision: Aim to give an outcome within 21 working days once all information is provided
Not covered: Cannot cover ineligible services such as meals or water rates
Funding period: Fund runs for three years, April 2026 to March 2029, expected available from autumn 2026

Erewash Borough Council is one of 8 district councils in Derbyshire. In a two-tier area the county council runs crisis payments and the district runs the housing side of the fund — rent shortfalls, a deposit, rent in advance. Derbyshire County Council was allocated £9,319,870 for 2026-27; Erewash Borough Council was allocated £138,256 of its own.
