North Yorkshire: Household Support Fund & Crisis and Resilience Fund

North Yorkshire Council runs its local crisis help as the Crisis and Resilience Fund. It is a grant — not a loan: help with essentials, nothing to repay. This is a summary; North Yorkshire’s own page (linked below) is the authority and the current position.

What North Yorkshire’s scheme covers

Covers: Housing payments (replacing Discretionary Housing Payments); crisis payments for emergencies via the North Yorkshire Local Assistance Fund; and help with heating oil and fuel costs
Status: Interim support running while the full scheme is designed (confirmed 10 September 2026)
Funding period: Three years from 1 April 2026
What you get: Supermarket/utility vouchers (electricity or gas meter top-ups), or essential items like furniture, white goods and clothing vouchers
Who qualifies: Aged 16+, living in or moving to North Yorkshire, on a means-tested benefit or household income below £16,105 with under £1,000 savings, having exhausted other support
How often: Up to 4 food/energy vouchers per 12 months, and up to 2 household items (only 1 white goods item) per 12 months
How to apply: Call Family Fund Business Services on 01904 550030 (vouchers); household items requested via an authorised agent
You will need: Proof of eligibility and address required
Government allocation: £7,706,465 for 2026-27

Before you apply

Use the right route. Housing payments through the council; crisis payments via the North Yorkshire Local Assistance Fund (NYLAF); heating-oil help via Citizens Advice's Warm and Well service on 01609 767 555 (Mon to Fri, 9am to 4:30pm)
Check it is still open. Interim support running while the full scheme is designed We confirmed this on 10 September 2026.
