Oldham Council runs its local crisis help as the Crisis and Resilience Fund. It is a grant — not a loan: help with essentials, nothing to repay. This is a summary; Oldham’s own page (linked below) is the authority and the current position.

What Oldham’s scheme covers

Covers: Crisis payments for emergencies (food, energy, household items); housing payments; holiday supermarket vouchers; rent deposits and tenancy bonds; foodbank access; and community group support
Status: Active; community-group support from Summer 2026 (confirmed 10 September 2026)
Who qualifies: Aged 16+, live in Oldham Borough (or about to become resident), facing an immediate crisis, unable to meet essential needs from own resources; no need to be on benefits
Referral needed: Either — apply yourself, or a support worker can apply for you (support worker, social worker, charity)
How to apply: Apply online
Decision: Usually within 2 working days once all evidence is received
Government allocation: £5,746,924 for 2026-27

Before you apply

Use the right route. Apply through Oldham Council; the Oldham Advice Service line is 0800 033 4602 (Mon to Fri, 9am to 6pm); school-meal vouchers are automatic for eligible children
