Rochford District Council runs its local crisis help as the Crisis and Resilience Fund. It is a grant — not a loan: help with essentials, nothing to repay. This is a summary; Rochford’s own page (linked below) is the authority and the current position.

What Rochford’s scheme covers

Not covered: Cannot cover ineligible service charges, sanction-related reductions, or arrears-driven rent increases
Funding period: CRF provides support from 1 April 2026
Government allocation: £99,151 for 2026-27

Rochford District Council is one of 12 district councils in Essex. In a two-tier area the county council runs crisis payments and the district runs the housing side of the fund — rent shortfalls, a deposit, rent in advance. Essex County Council was allocated £16,866,968 for 2026-27; Rochford District Council was allocated £99,151 of its own. If what you need is help with food or energy rather than rent, start with the Essex scheme.

What Rochford itself says

Award. “The Council will decide how much to award based on all the circumstances. This may be an amount lower than the difference between the rent liability and the rate of HB or housing element of UC being paid”
What you get. “Payment will be made by BACS”
Who qualifies. “Live in Essex, Are on a low income, Are experiencing financial hardship, Have little or no savings”
How often. “The maximum period will not exceed a period of 12 months, at which point the claimant will be able to reapply”
Decision. “The Council will aim to inform the claimant of its decision within 14 days of receipt of all the necessary information, or as soon as reasonably practicable thereafter”
You will need. “Each application is assessed on its own circumstances, and supporting evidence will be required”
Not covered. “Ineligible service charges included in the rent (such as water charges or meals)”
Funding period. “From 1 April 2026, the Crisis and Resilience Fund (CRF) provides financial support to people in Essex”
