Somerset Council runs its local crisis help as the Crisis and Resilience Fund (CRF). It is a grant — not a loan: help with essentials, nothing to repay. This is a summary; Somerset’s own page (linked below) is the authority and the current position.

What Somerset’s scheme covers

Covers: Emergency crisis payments (vouchers or goods) for food, utilities and urgent living costs; heating oil help; housing payments; and resilience support such as debt advice
Status: Active (confirmed 15 September 2026)
Funding period: 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2029; £22.66m from the DWP, including £1.2m for heating oil
Who qualifies: Low-income residents experiencing a sudden financial shock
Government allocation: £8,327,956 for 2026-27
