Peterborough City Council runs its local crisis help as the Crisis and Resilience Fund (CRF). It is a grant — not a loan: help with essentials, nothing to repay. This is a summary; Peterborough’s own page (linked below) is the authority and the current position.

What Peterborough’s scheme covers

Covers: Crisis support for low-income households in financial hardship, and help to build longer-term financial resilience; delivered as crisis payments, community partners and housing payments
Status: Active (confirmed 10 September 2026)
Funding period: 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2029; about £3.6m a year
Award: Typically £50-£150, may be lower or higher in some cases
What you get: Cash payment not guaranteed; council may instead offer vouchers or goods
Who qualifies: Peterborough resident, 16+, experiencing financial crisis, savings under £1,000 (£5,000 if pensionable age); no need to be on benefits
How often: Normally one application allowed per household in a rolling 12-month period
How to apply: Apply through the Funding Connect Platform
Decision: Successful applications approved and paid within 2-4 days of all evidence being received
Not covered: Not awarded for ongoing housing costs, unsustainable tenancies, or mortgage support
Government allocation: £4,054,245 for 2026-27
