Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council runs its local crisis help as the Crisis and Resilience Fund. It is a grant — not a loan: help with essentials, nothing to repay. This is a summary; Rotherham’s own page (linked below) is the authority and the current position.

Covers: Crisis payments for a financial crisis; £95 one-off summer 2026 payments for families with children on free school meals; a Council Tax Support top-up; housing payments; community support (food banks, household goods); and extra help for care leavers

The Household Support Fund, in plain terms

Across England the Household Support Fund has largely been renamed the Crisis and Resilience Fund and now runs to 31 March 2029. It is money central government gives to upper-tier councils to help households with essentials — food, energy, and sometimes white goods. A payment does not affect your benefits. Other help you may qualify for

White-goods grants — a broken fridge, cooker or washing machine.
Budgeting Advance or Budgeting Loan — interest-free from the DWP.
Credit union loans — the cheapest borrowing, capped at 3% a month.
