Stockport Council runs its local crisis help as the Crisis and Resilience Fund. It is a grant — not a loan: help with essentials, nothing to repay. This is a summary; Stockport’s own page (linked below) is the authority and the current position.

What Stockport’s scheme covers

Covers: Crisis payments; housing payments (rent shortfalls, rent in advance, deposits); resilience services including food support, school-uniform essentials and digital inclusion; Family Support Vouchers; help for care leavers and families with Special Guardianship Orders; and an expanded Holiday Activities and Food programme

Funding period: 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2029
What you get: Housing payments cover rent shortfalls, rent in advance and tenancy deposits; separate Family Support Vouchers for household essentials also issued
