Wychavon District Council runs its local crisis help as the Crisis and Resilience Fund. It is a grant — not a loan: help with essentials, nothing to repay. This is a summary; Wychavon’s own page (linked below) is the authority and the current position.

What Wychavon’s scheme covers

Award: Amount depends on personal circumstances; no fixed sum published
What you get: Discretionary payment toward housing costs for those on Housing Benefit or Universal Credit

Not covered: Cannot cover ineligible HB/UC costs (e.g. utilities, meals, personal care), historic rent arrears, benefit overpayment deductions, or Council Tax
Funding period: CRF began 1 April 2026, replacing the Household Support Fund
Government allocation: £132,870 for 2026-27

Wychavon District Council is one of 6 district councils in Worcestershire. In a two-tier area the county council runs crisis payments and the district runs the housing side of the fund — rent shortfalls, a deposit, rent in advance. Worcestershire County Council was allocated £6,527,725 for 2026-27; Wychavon District Council was allocated £132,870 of its own. What Wychavon itself says

Award. “The amount you receive and the length of time you are awarded help, depends on your personal circumstances”
What you get. “Discretionary Housing Payments (DHP) can provide additional financial support to people who currently receive Housing Benefit from their Local Authority or Housing costs from the Universal Credit Department”
How often. “DHPs are not suitable for long term use and should therefore not be relied upon for any length of time”
How to apply. “please contact us on 03004 560 560 to request a paper application to be sent to you”
Decision. “We aim to be in touch with a decision within 28 days of receiving your application where possible”
You will need. “You will be given the opportunity to upload your supporting evidence during the online application process”
Not covered. “You cannot apply for a DHP to pay for: - The cost of things Housing Benefit or the housing element of Universal Credit deem ineligible e.g. Utility costs, meals or personal care”
Funding period. “The Government's Household Support Fund has now ended and has been replaced by the Crisis and Resilience Fund from 01 April 2026”
